FAQ

DESIGN AND PHILOSOPHY

Who is the Nash Domus collection designed for?

It’s designed for the homeowner who values their home's architectural integrity as much as their bank account. If you refuse to pay a 400% retail markup for a brand name, but you also refuse to have "spindly" DIY projects on your patio, we built this for you.

What makes Nash Domus plans different from free online guides?

Most free plans focus on being "cheap" and "easy," which often results in "spindly" furniture that looks "homemade". We design for Architectural Weight and Visual Cohesion.

  • Precision Upholstery Engineering: Our frames are designed with a "glove-fit" for standard, high-end retail cushions. This eliminates the "muffin-top" look and awkward gaps common in amateur builds.
  • Unified Design Language: Unlike random one-off projects found online, every Nash Domus piece shares the same proportions and visual DNA.
  • Modular Set Expansion: Because our collections are cohesive, you aren't just building a chair; you are building a system. You can build a single piece today and add a matching sofa or table next year, ensuring your entire outdoor space looks curated and intentional rather than accidental.
  • Professional Presence: By using heavy timber and hidden joinery, the result is a permanent social center that commands respect, rather than a temporary "craft project".

Is professional woodworking experience required?

No. If you can operate a miter saw and a drill, you can build our collections. We use architectural geometry and hidden joinery to achieve a showroom look without the need for complex joinery.

FABRICATION AND LOGISTICS

What specific tools do I need?

We design for the "Garage Fabricator." You’ll need a miter saw, a drill/driver, a pocket hole jig, and a sander. No industrial planers, jointers, or $5,000 table saws required.

Do the plans include sourcing for cushions and materials?

Yes. We provide a complete Logistics Blueprint so you can spend your time building, not hunting for parts. Every plan package includes:

  • Retail-Ready Cushion Sourcing: We’ve done the legwork to ensure our frames fit standard, high-end retail cushions with glove-like precision. You get direct purchase links to verified sets, eliminating the "muffin-top" look of poorly matched upholstery.
  • Architectural Hardware Links: We specify and link the exact professional-grade exterior screws and hidden fasteners required for a clean, showroom-quality finish.
  • Material Science Guidance: We don't just list "wood"; we provide a specific lumber manifest for standard dimensional cedar available at your local hardware store.
  • Professional Finish Specs: To ensure your project survives the decade and maintains its color, we provide the exact brand and shade of architectural-grade sealers we use on our own sets.

Can I build these sets with standard lumber?

Absolutely. Every collection is engineered for standard dimensional cedar found at your local hardware store. No special milling or wholesale accounts needed.

Why don’t your plans feature budget materials like pressure-treated pine?

To be honest, we catch some heat for being "material snobs". While the physical geometry of our furniture would technically work with any 2x4, you won't find a single recommendation for pressure-treated pine in our guides.

We prioritize Material Science and the long-term enjoyment of your outdoor sanctuary. Standard construction pine is prone to leaking sticky sap, twisting as it dries, and splitting under direct sun. Because we design for Architectural Weight and Showroom-Quality Results, we exclusively specify Western Red Cedar.

Cedar isn't just a "nicer wood"; it is a biological fortress against rot and insects, ensuring your build survives the decade rather than just a few seasons. We refuse to let you put 20 hours of labor into a set that will warp or weep sap on your luxury cushions within the first year. We design for the homeowner who wants an asset, not a temporary "craft project".

Ownership & Longevity

How long do these projects actually take to complete?

A single club chair can be built and sanded in a focused Saturday morning. A full sectional typically takes a weekend. Our goal is to get you out of the garage and into the "Host" chair as quickly as possible.

Can I leave this furniture outdoors year-round?

Yes. Because we engineer for Cedar and specify professional-grade exterior fasteners, these sets are designed to weather the elements. We provide specific guidance on finishes to ensure your Domus stays beautiful through every season.
